Apple’s much awaited streaming TV service could arrive as soon as the end of 2015. Reportedly, Apple’s new platform is already ‘ready and it rocks’.

According to a report by the New York post, Apple’s discussions with ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox are ‘rapidly gaining momentum.’ Initially, Apple had discussions with the networks regarding its desire to offer on the soon-to-launch service local live TV feeds streamed on any Apple device.

But, as networks do not control affiliate feeds, CEO Tim Cook’s team asked the networks to obtain the rights instead of the company having to chase those rights around the country themselves.

Disney or CBS will likely sign the first deal with Apple, sources suggest. But, one obstacle could be the company’s  insistence that TV partners give up 30 percent of the subscription fee if users buy it in the App Store. Also, others may push to include their cable channels in the product.

At the moment, it is unknown on how much the company will charge for the service which will be available for streaming on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV. Though, industry sources have heard estimates ranging from $10 to $40 a month. Along with these major networks, the service will include ESPN and the Discovery Channel, the report added.

As of now, Apple has not disclosed any information about the next-generation Apple TV set-top box but, it will most likely be unveiled alongside the streaming TV service.

A previous report points out that Apple had recently announced its iOS 9 mobile operating system and OS X El Captain for Mac and now, the beta versions of both are made available for download to general public.

The betas of both operating systems were made accessible to registered developers last month, but now the public betas are free for all. This means, you don’t need a developer ID priced at $99 that translates to approximately Rs 6,300.

Google tech exhibits augmented vision

Google has applied with the US Patent and Trademark Office for a new technology that will allow users wearing Google Glass-like device get information about objects within their line of vision, International Business Times reported.

Titled “Self-Describing 3D Object Recognition and Control Descriptors for Augmented Reality Interfaces,” the technology will “provide for the detection and recognition of target devices by a mobile computing device”, the patent description said.

According to the patent, the technology can only work for objects “within a pre-defined local environment”. It means that it will work in locations where Google Glass already has the information for every object that is there.



According to media reports, Google may also be testing the next version of the Google Glass called GG1. Google has a new eye wearable device in the works under the latest US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing, which “might just be a new Google Glass”, Droid Life reported.

The FCC tests electronic products to ensure that they are safe for human contact. Google withdrew the eye-wearable device from the market in January this year but reports said that the US tech giant was planning to come up with a different version of the wearable headset.
